INTRODUCTION
Ramkrishna Jaidayal Dalmia Seva Sansthan ( RJDSS) , established by Dalmia Family in 2004 was registered as a trust in 2008. RJDSS is a non –government, non-political and non-profit organization. It is currently working with more than one lakh people across 89 villages with a vision to bring “KUSHHALI”: PROSPERITY WITH EQUITY AND HARMONY in Chirawa block of Jhunjhunu District of Shekhawati Region.
Since water is a scarce resource in the region, RJDSS major interventions are in the water sector, with the broad objective of ensuring safe and sustainable supply of drinking water by adopting Integrated Water Resource Management Approach. Water conservation and promotion of total sanitation in the villages has been successfully achieved in various villages and that was acclaimed nationally by awards (at different level by different organizations).
The basic approach of the trust is to empower rural communities, revive their traditions of water conservation and rainwater harvesting by rehabilitating the older structures using modern scientific knowledge and technology in order to provide drinking water security in all climatic conditions.

MISSION
1. Water level in Chirawa is going down gradually. We plan to build tanks in every household to save rain water from the roof tops
2. To reduce the rate of water level going down, we will guide the farmers through technical assistance and integrated farming methods so their income level does not go down
3. To increase the income level of farmers by at least 4 times in the next 5 years through technical inputs and integrated farming methods
4. To make farmers aware of organic farming, its benefits in health as well as income in the long run
5. To encourage the villagers to keep their villages clean, make the villages completely ODF, eliminate use of one time use plastics and stay away from alcohol
6. Women should be empowered through Self Help Groups so they can help increase the family income and thereby receive the respect due to them
7. To bring BPL families into our fold and ensure their inclusion in all our endeavours
8. To increase the forest cover by planting as well as encourage villagers to plant thousands of trees every year
ACHIEVEMENTS
Water Conservation Activities
-
4505 rainwater harvesting tanks in various villages of Jhunjhunu District covering 59841 beneficiaries.

A capacity to harvest more than 8.30 Cr. liters annually has been created in villages and till date 93.43 Cr. liters of water has been harvested.

Safe drinking water availability has been increased for usage round the year.

Construction of 128 recharge wells, 3404 soak pits and 6 ponds have significantly sustained the ground water table.

A capacity to recharge (Recharge well and Ponds) 19.11Cr. liters annually has been created and till date 158.24 Cr. liters have been recharged benefitting 30,000 villagers.

To measure accurate rainfall at village level rain gauges in 48 villages of Chirawa Panchayat Samiti.

The organization has conducted a robust indepth study of ground water scenario of 89 villages of CHIRAWA by a scientific soil resistivity survey.
Agriculture Activities

Worked with 7950 farmers in 15350.14 hectare area and saved 1802.54 cr liters of water till date.

The Farmers are benefitted from demonstrations and inputs on improved variety seeds, fertilizer and technical know-how provided by the organization, resulting in enhancing their income by 35.11 %. Production of farmers has increased by 22% to 50% depending on the crop.

Promoting Indigenous cow breeds for organic farming till date 106 such farmers identified, those are doing cow-based farming. More than 102 hectare farming is based on indigenous cow-based manures.

203 vermi-compost, 36 Bordex unit, 11 Azola Units, 300 Organic Pesticides & Bioenzym and 875 waste decomposer units established for organic farming.

176 drip units installed to reduce ground water exploitation and efficient use of it. and 18 Solar units installed by motivation.

Under Badi promotion more than 3949 families covered, under this scheme seasonal vegetable seed provided to poorest of the poor section of the society, those who cannot afford nutritive vegetable on daily basis. This has been introduced to reduce malnutrition among them.
Forestry and Plantation Activities

Under the Conservation of Environment activity more than 4.00 lakh plants have been planted on community land as well as on individual farms. A concept of Family Planting has been introduced by which every family was motivated to plant at least 5-10 plants (shed & fruit) in their houses, community land or at their farm.

1084 orchards of Kinnow, Nimboo, Maushmi, Beel, Ber etc. have been promoted. Through Orchard establishment use of ground water has reduced by 72 % . Since inception of the orchards 136.56 Cr liter was saved.

A forestry development programme has been initiated to conserve Pasture and grazing land. By seed broadcasting and seed ball technique 119.25 hectare area has been covered.
Sanitation ( plastic free and totally clean village concept )

Under total sanitation campaign, RJDSS ensures 100% toilet construction as well as their use.

Till date it has constructed 2361 toilets benefitting 13788 residents and created 89 Open Defecation free Villages, 14 Plastic free villages and 62 totally clean villages.

Awareness Programme

Along with regular awareness programmes organization celebrates Environment Day, World Water Day, International Women Day, Earth Day, International day for the preservation of Ozone layer, world Organic Day, World Sail Day and Farmer Day.

A five-day campaign for awareness on the occasion of World Water Day, a Amrit jalam Kalash Yatra has been initiated. This yatra moves from 58-60 villages of District Jhunjhunu.

In each project villages slogan writing has been done on various topics like water, environment, pollution, plastic free village, alcohol free village, women empowerment, agriculture and its allied activities .
